So how does Global Doctor work? As a patient you are seen and examined by a Doctor just as you would be at home by your General Practitioner. All Global Doctor’s practitioners speak English, are experienced family physicians and have had extensive experience in Western based medical practices.

If your problem is a simple one then a diagnosis and treatment will be created for you just as it would be at home. For advanced problems, or if you would like to speak to an Australian Doctor, then each Global Doctor clinic has a fully equipped Telemedicine suite, where with the use of Video Conference technology you can be examined and interviewed by a Doctor in Perth, Australia.

The video connection is by digital ISDN line directly to an international Doctor or Specialist. There is no recording of the interviews, so all your medical information is private and secure just as it would be if you were sitting across the table from your family Doctor.

The use of large monitor screens gives the impression of having a truly ‘face-to-face’ consultation with the Australian doctor. In the majority of cases the examination has already been performed by the local Doctor and does not need to be repeated. Occasionally however, the Doctor in Perth may want additional information to assist in their decision-making. Global Doctor has a number of Telemedicine devices to make this process simple.

We have a digital Stethoscope in each clinic that enables the Doctor in Perth to hear your heart and lung sounds, even though you are thousands of Kilometres away. This is used frequently in cases of Asthma or with patients who have cardiac conditions.

If you have a rash or skin lesion for examination then do not be surprised if the local Doctor asks to take photographs of it. Using a Fujifilm MX2900Zoom digital camera, high resolution images of your skin problem can be taken and sent to the Doctor in Perth for close examination. If you have a mole or concern over skin cancer, then the local Doctor will use a digital Dermatoscope to take very detailed magnified images of the lesion; this is often done ‘live’ over the Video Conference link so that the Perth Doctor can get exactly what they want out of the picture. Ear, Nose and Throat problems can also be examined this way with a digital Otoscope. This enables the Australian Doctor to see your tonsils or eardrums.

For very complex cases the Global Doctor physician may arrange a number of tests for you, before arranging the Video Conference to Australia. In these cases any investigations you may have will be turned into digital information and sent to Perth, so that it can be studied and the right specialist contacted. This will include any X-Rays you have, CT’s, MRI’s and laboratory tests.
